DUN & BRADSTREET (D&B), a global provider of commercial information on businesses, yesterday urged firms to register for online seals that would enhance credibility on the Internet.
“Currently, many do business online and there is a possible risk of fraud, misrepresentation,” Shiela P. Lina, executive vice-president and general manager of D&B Philippines, Inc., told a press briefing.
An electronic seal granted by a third-party certifier would attract customers that would have been otherwise suspicious of the company or its online presence.
D&B’s system, for instance, allows Web site visitors to click the seal and then be redirected to another page which will display information relating to the firm’s nature of business, registration number to the D&B’s global database, as well as its key officials.
Ms. Lina said the electronic seal allows the visitor of the site to know immediately that the business is legitimate and has been verified by a third party.
